The last four months have been excellent for Bon Accord building upon the great start to the year in January and February.
Water Tank
After the arrival of the boiler to Aberdeen in February, and its subsequent fitting onto the frames, the water tank was successfully trial fitted allowing the inner chimney to be located and permanently bolted into place. The dome cover housing has been repaired and is currently under paint preparation.
Boiler
All saddle bolt holes have been drilled with the boiler now permanently bolted into place. Rear sliding support has also been completed. Firebars are installed and ashpan / damper fitted. Refurbished firehole door mechanism has been installed and the smoke box door mounted with newly fabricated dart handle fastener. Smoke box pipework is currently under preparation.
Motion
Piston rings have been gapped and fitted to both left and right hand pistons and mounted into both cylinders.

A recent visit by Great North of Scotland Railway Association was a great success and a pleasure for all concerned. |
