On Sunday 9th May 2010, Jim Bramwell died while hill-walking with friends.
Jim was a central part of the restoration team working on Bon-Accord over the past decade. His leadership, great engineering skill, and friendship will be greatly missed.

In words of another member of restoration team:
“I don’t think there is a single area of Bon Accord that Jim has not had a hand in. His energy, range of skills and capability never ceased to amaze me”.

Sadly, Jim died just a few days before Bon-Accord’s inaugural steaming at the Royal Deeside Railway. After discussion it was decided to go ahead with the test run – the first time Bon-Accord had travelled under her own steam power since 1964. The day became a tribute to Jim and his tremendous part in the restoration of Bon-Accord. Throughout the day, the word was "If only Jim could see this ".
